First XUV light in the COLTRIMS

New month, new light! We have detected first signal of argon ions generated by high-harmonics.

The newly-wed HHG chamber and COLTRIMS have produced first results. The image shows the ion detector signal, where one can observe the high-harmonic beam passing through the COLTRIMS chamber, ionizing background gas on the way. The small bright dot indicates the ionization of argon atoms in the cold gas jet.
